Discovery

Discovery is the first working session of most engagements, and the safest place to start with superglue. The agent reads the source system, builds an inventory of the entities that matter, tests data quality with real counts, and tells you whether the client is ready to migrate. Nothing is written anywhere.

  1. Open a session in the project and select the Discover a system playbook, or describe the goal in your own words.
  2. Name the system and what you want to decide. For example: “Assess the Contoso GP database for a migration to Intacct. I need to know which modules have data, volumes per entity, and the state of customer and vendor master data.”
  3. The agent reads the documentation and makes focused read-only queries. It reports as it goes and asks only when a business decision is needed.
  4. Review the summary. Ask follow-up questions in the same session, for example “Show me the 20 customers with no billing address.”
  5. Ask for a report when you want to share the findings. See below.

Without credentials, the agent can still analyze capabilities and structure from documentation and uploaded exports. It labels volume and quality findings as pending live verification until a connection exists.

A discovery ends with a plain-language summary in this shape:

  • What exists: the entities, record counts, date ranges and relationships relevant to the goal.
  • What looks healthy and what looks risky: duplicates, missing required values, orphaned references, inconsistent codes, and inactive records with open balances.
  • What could not be checked: access gaps or modules that need another credential.
  • Readiness: ready, ready with caveats, or blocked, with the few reasons that matter.
  • Next actions: the cleanup and decisions needed before mapping starts.

Detailed schemas and evidence stay available on request, so the summary stays readable for the client.

Ask the agent for a report and it creates an artifact with an executive summary, inventory, quantified findings, readiness and recommendations. Artifacts open in the Artifacts tab of the session and are saved under Brain → Artifacts.

From the artifact toolbar you can:

  • Download it as PDF, an editable Word document, interactive HTML or Excel.
  • Share it with the client through a link, or with team members inside superglue.

Reports carry your organization’s logo and name when branding is set under Settings → Organization.

Discovery usually produces cleanup work. Ask the agent to add the required tasks to the project, with owners and due dates where they are known. Data-quality fixes the client must do in the source system become Waiting tasks.
